MY SMALL LIFE
By Janet Aureus

They say life is unfair, some are gifted with a model-like figure, while some are… hmmn never mind.
To my fellow gorgeous friends, to the alluring contest chair, stunning Toastmasters, dazzling guests, good evening.
I am Janet Aureus, with the height of 8 feet… less 3 feet. But with a vital statistics compared to heavenly bodies and is considered an inter-stellar beauty. Well, what am I doing up here? It's pretty obvious that I want you guys to listen to what I'm going to impart to you! This is my way of introducing myself in full honesty but with great sense in English vernacular. Okay let me talk in my usual way and oozing sex appeal.
I am hailed from a small family with parents having fertility problem, I have 2 brothers and 7 sisters… Well, this is just an evidence that my parents are very much in loved with each other and that they are followers of an ancient rule… to go forth and multiply! The more the merrier, that's why they have harvested a total of 10 children.
I am the 9th child in the family and mind you I am one of a kind. I wonder if I was adopted or just a miracle happened. Some people are teasing me as a daughter of the Sun…
This is probably because my physical features are unique; I have a porcelain skin, cute height and I used to have a corn-like hair when I was a child, while my brothers and sisters have potato skin, black hair, and towering heights.
Life is a bit difficult while I am growing up. It seems that I am always discriminated with my height and skin color. Like, no matter how I tried to hide and be seated at the back, especially during class recitation, my teacher would easily spot me! Then again I am always forced to transfer in the front row. That's why I never like the idea of the “find your height formation.”
Hide and seek is the game I will never play again. Yes, I could easily fit myself in a small dark cave... but how will I ever hide myself with this glow in the dark skin?!
Not only that, during school enrollment I am always led to the elementary building. When college came, I applied as a part time cashier. I was grateful because I was qualified for my experiences but when I stood up my employer had second thoughts, it reflected on his face. Later on I realized that he had doubts that I might not reach the cashier counter. He found a solution because on my first day of work a tall stool was placed at the counter.
Even when I do my shopping, sales ladies would always refer me to the kid's section. At the movies, when all of my friends are already inside of an R-18 movie, I usually have a long discussion with the guards, I guess you all know the reason why…
Right now, I am having second thoughts if I will apply for a driver's license. Cars are not especially made for the length of my legs… I have no choice but to reach for the pedal even if it will look like that there is no driver. Just imagine… a car driving by itself! There would surely be a catastrophe on the road. So I just opted to drive a bump car in Adhari Park.
Another turning point in my life is when I auditioned for the Theatrical play, “Snow white and the Seven Dwarfs”. It was a dream come true to be Snow white. I told myself that having this porcelain skin is an advantage. Indeed I was casted! But as one of theI the 7 dwarves.
Fellow Toastmasters, each one of us has features different from the others. Some are big like a hippopotamus, dark like a gorilla, thin like a matchstick… but we should be proud and accept ourselves for who we are, because these features would somehow work to our advantage. I know I am short, white, and pretty but I also believe in the law of magnetism, that opposites attract. With my physical features, I believe I am meant for a tall, dark and handsome man…
So, life is fair after all! : )
